Write for Cynic

Submissions

Cynic is mostly written by its own staff, but some of the best ideas come from outside. If you want to write for us, begin with a pitch. We do not accept finished pieces from first-time writers, however finished they may be.

Start With a Pitch

Tell us the question, why it matters now, and the sources you plan to stand on. A few honest paragraphs beat a polished manuscript. Send it to hello@cynic.app.

Guest Authors

Once we approve a pitch, you become a Guest Author. Guest work goes through stricter editorial approval than staff work: closer editing, a full fact-check, and a final sign-off before anything runs. We say this up front so it reads as care, not suspicion.

Contributors

After 100 successfully published articles of proven quality, the editorial board may vote to make a Guest Author a Contributor. Contributors write their own articles directly, without pitching first. Those articles still go through the full editorial process, because everything we print does.

Letters, Tips and Corrections

None of this applies to letters, tips or corrections. Write to hello@cynic.app anytime. Letters may be edited for length and may run in Letters.
